Its a nice Saturday night out. [break][break]

A nice enough night for a game with a few people, some were random, while others he actually felt their company would be enjoyed for the game. He knows he's invited Cillian Quinn for plenty of games in the past. And for now he's hoping to make some new connections for the Rocket here in Hoenn. Calling ahead for virgil roach for a table Pryde takes a seat and orders a whisky as he starts shuffling a pack of cards he made sure to bring as those he had called finally gathered. The scared man gives a friendly enough smile, one passible enough to give the indication that he was happy to see the group. [break][break]

"Feel free to pick a seat," he shows gestures to the table he's sitting at as he still plays around with the cards. "I believe most of know one another, but as a just in case as we are in public in some sense I am Lloyd Kvar," he introduces himself as he deals two cards to each person. [break][break]

"I trust you all know how to play?" he doubts, but he can be hopeful.[break][break]

Whoever post first will determine posting order as well as which seat you're in.

For betting it can be anywhere between 5PD-50PD

Once Bets are complete the news round of cards will be draw and betting starts again.

+ BLUFFING takes place when your character starts the bet, or is trying to raise. [break]
+ INSIGHT is when you're tying to read a bluffing character. See if you can tell if they're telling the truth, or if they're a lying sack of shit. [break]
+ Rolls when it comes to your Rolls only the second number counts. So if you roll a 43 you only take the 3. If you roll a 29, you take the 9.

All characters have a modifier they can add to either their Bluffing or their Insight checks.

+ Modifiers must be added before your roll. [break]
+ All points are for the game, so if you use all of your points the first round you will have none for the rest of the game.[break]+ Most characters start off with 5pts, if character has history of playing a game of poker in the past they get 8pts[break]

It's been a while since he's played, and of those invited only their host knows anything of Gavin's tricks and tells. Pryde's smile is returned in a quick flash of sharp white.

He greets the other players with a nod, attention lingering longer on Martín del Mar and Rowan Wrynn in particular.

"Never played in my life," he deadpans. "Do go easy on me."

He grins after the jest and takes a swig of his whiskey.

An invitation to play poker from Raphael Pryde out of all people is not something Mars had expected, but with the way things have been as of late, it’s taken as a welcomed change of pace. no offense taken Martín del Mar —although the selection was stellar downstairs, and senior bartender slate milhaus kept a particularly fantastic bottle of gin behind the bar for himself. maybe he’d share.

”i played a time er two,” roach drawled at Raphael Pryde with a smirk. the corners of his mouth curled more at Cillian Quinn and Martín del Mar as he puffed his cigar. it lingered near his lips. ”sheit.”

his smile was easy-going. a practiced poker-face already. fuck, he hated these guys. few had previously had the power or brass to bring down or manipulate his operations in slateport. rocket had managed to twist his arm into compliance and hospitality. though he seemed, on the surface, to be over it—his more nefarious profits had skyrocketed, no pun intended—he still couldn’t help but wonder whose call it had been overtake him.

Rowan arrived late, which he would pretend was due to fashionable sensibility instead of the truth that he’d nearly forgotten about the event. There was only one seat left at the table, so he didn’t get much choice of who his seat partners would be. “What’s up, everyone?” A casual enough greeting for a casual game, letting out a small huff that betrayed the fact that he’d sprinted here from the boat.

“Never played before, so take that for what you will.” Unlike Gavin, he wasn’t bluffing but there couldn’t be much to the game, right? A quick glance around the table spotted some unfamiliar faces, to which he’d introduce himself before setting his phone down on the tabletop. “I’m Rowan, by the way, for those that don’t know me.”

With how close @rowan and Cillian Quinn seem, they seem like they've been through a lot together - Brothers-in-arms perhaps, after the proceedings in the raid on Sootopolis. Ryuuzaki wouldn't be surprised if there were anything more to it, but he decides he probably prefers his life over unravelling secrets just yet.

Pryde just chuckles, "Of course not, who knows I might now be at the disadvantage now that my wife isn't here to distract you lot with her drinks and name-calling, no offense to your bartenders Vergil," he jokes as he looks around the table as everyone places their bets. Amused how Rowan Wrynn decides to raise the bar. [Break][break]

"Getting quite confident are we?" he gest as everyone around the table makes their call for the first card to be revealed. Once the money is in Pryde burns the first card before drawing another and revealing a 7 of clubs. He gives a small hum of acknowledgement before he knocks on the wooden table. Seems like no one had anything witty to add as checks went all around. Almost feels like herding sheep as he seems to get them all to follow easily enough with him. He burns another card by placing it face down before flipping another. Pryde just hums in amusement as he sees the card.
